After working for all of three years after graduating I decided to have some fun instead and disappear on a trip around the world. I'll post pics on here time to time if your interested to see where I've been while you've been stuck in work!

Kuala Lumpur

I arrived in Kuala Lumur mid November. It was a nice change to be in a modern city after 2 months in other parts of South East Asia that aren't as developed although this soon wore off with the realisation that KL seemed to be mainly made up of shopping malls and not much else.
A visit to china town revealed a few nice hidden away eateries but the market, in the bottom three pictures, apart from some general fruit and veg stores was made up of stalls selling fake watches and copied dvds which was a bit disapointing but humurous as the traders fell over themselves trying to persuade you there wears were real and good quality.
One of the best things about KL was the hawkers stalls where you could find all sorts of interesting foods at cheap prices.
KL did have some nice gardens with lakes, an aviary and a butterfly zoo amongst other things which made a pleasant change to walking around the shops.
What strikes you about KL is all the different races of people living in one place, the malays, indians and chinese amongst others. Although there tourist information makes a big thing of being an extremely multicultural country, the different races generally on the surface don't seem to mix with each other that much.
