Penang is an island of the north west coast of peninsula malaysia. An historic port of the British Empire but more recently a tourist island centred around georgetown and the north coast of the island. The centre of Georgetown had really interesting chinatowns and little indias with some great little food stalls and shops as well as some picturesque temples and mosques.
The island for the size of it is very developed and has buildings seemingly covering a vast amount of free space.
On one of the days there I went up Penang hill in the middle of the island which on a clear day you can see along way onto the malaysian mainland. The day I went up wasn't the best but it still had good views over Georgetown.
